Directions to Access the above Data Sets

1. Need to download WinZip on to the computer you will be downloading the dataset.

2. Click the link for the data set and you will l be prompted for the saving the file.

3. Save the dataset zip file to your hard drive probably onto "C" drive.

4. Unzip the Data Set to access the ".apr" file.

5. Double click the ".apr" file to view the project.

J Trak 3D is a fun way to show students how our jumble of orbiting satellites interact with each other. Lots of information on all orbiting objects in space. Very fun animation.

TerraServer
Simple to use, free source of satellite images and map fragments. Can georegister as well for use in GIS.

EROS Data Center
EROS Data Center. Unbelievable global resource right here in South Dakota. Extensive links to GIS &and endless imagery.

USGS
Links to everything about planetary surface, geology, hydrology, cartography, and on and on!

NOAA
Almost as valuable to me as USGS. Incredible data source for water and air especially.

ESRI
Mecca of GIS sites. Links to everything in GIS. Somewhat proprietary since ESRI is the major provider of GIS products. Incredible library of lessons and tutorials online.

NASA
No list is complete without NASA. Go to "related websites" and there are some great planetary links.

National Atlas of the United States
Yes, this is THE national atlas. The last paper edition was published in 1972. Go here for constantly updated information on nearly anything you want to know about our nation in map form!
