Business, Computer, and Marketing Education
Business and Marketing Education prepares students for
entry into and advancement in jobs within business. It also prepares
students to handle their own business affairs and become a productive
citizen and consumer. To function and succeed in an electronic information
society, Business and Marketing Education students must develop and apply
competencies in business/marketing technology, practices and environments
in conjunction with the US Secretary of Education’s Commission on the
Achievement of Necessary Skills (SCANS) foundations and competencies.
Successful Business and Marketing Education programs
should offer the following to the students:
- Provide students an avenue for attainment of
business/marketing skills and knowledge, and emphasize the need for
advanced education and lifelong learning.
- Increase students’ vocational technical and
academic skills via integration of program competencies.
- Promote character growth and development including
human relations, good work habits, positive attitudes toward
fulfillment of responsibilities and establishment of standards of
ethical values.
- Develop the skills of logical thinking,
communication, problem solving and decision-making.
- Provide preparation for immediate employment.
- Promote student participation in the Career and
Technical Student Organization related to the development of personal
employability and leadership skills.
