Career and Technical Education Conference

The South Dakota Career & Technical Education (CTE) Summer is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Education and in cooperation with the South Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education. Each year, this conference provides over 300 teachers, administrators, and school counselors to connect with other educators and explore best practices that will help them prepare students to be college, career, and life ready.

This year’s conference is scheduled for July 27-28, on the campus of Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD. Monday is full of interesting round table sessions, hands-on, in-depth activities, and tours from all career areas. Tuesday is dedicated to content-specific time for each division and breakout sessions running in tracks related to specific career clusters.

Vendor exhibits will highlight curriculum materials, software, and related services on Tuesday of the conference.
The conference is intended for all career and technical educators including:

Registration

Registration for the conference is not currently available. Please check back in March 2015.

Registering with Perkins Funds
Local Perkins funds can be used for professional development related to CTE Programs of Study, including CTE conference registration fees.

Membership dues for professional organizations such as CANNOT be paid for with local Perkins funds.

Perkins funds are not released to school districts until July 1, 2015.

Round tables are fast-paced 20-minute sessions intended to provide participants with fresh ideas for their classrooms and schools. Participants will have the chance to attend three different sessions.

In-Depth sessions are 80 minutes long and provide participants with the opportunity to dig deeper into a topic through hands on activities. Participants have the opportunity to attend up to two in-depth sessions. In-Depth session run concurrently with business tours.
