Title IV - Safe and Drug Free Schools & Communities

The purpose of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1994 is to support programs that meet the seventh National Education Goal by preventing violence in and around schools; strengthening programs that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs; involving parents, and coordinating community efforts. Funds are allocated from the US Department of Education to allow local education agencies to develop age-appropriate, comprehensive education/prevention programs to combat the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and violence among South Dakota's students.

Technical Assistance for the Safe and Drug Free Schools Program, Title IV, is offered by the Department of Human Services. For more information, please contact Shawnie Rechtenbaugh at 605-882-5293.
