Two South Dakota high school seniors have been selected to receive scholarships to attend the 2008 National Youth Conference Science Camp in West Virginia June 29-July 26. Joshua Garry from Webster High School and Sierra Goeden from Dakota Valley High School in North Sioux City will represent South Dakota at the event.
The National Youth Science Camp is an intense residential science education program for young scientists.
Participants spend the month studying with scientists and other professionals from the academic and business worlds. The camp includes lectures and hands-on research projects assisted by scientists from across the nation. While attending the camp, students will have the opportunity to visit Monongahela National Forest and Washington, D.C.
Alternate South Dakota delegates are Travis Scholten from St. Mary’s High School in Dell Rapids, Jarrett Brenner from Yankton High School, Alicia Conner from Ethan High School, and Kellen Mastick from Harrisburg High School.
