Training Tools for Healthy Schools
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a national cadre of master trainers to provide workshops on using and implementing CDC's school health tools.
The Training Tools for Healthy Schools provides workshops designed to help improve school health policies, programs, and curricula:

• Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT),
• Physical Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (PECAT),
• School Health Guidelines to Promote Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (SHG),
• School Health Index: A Self-Assessment and Planning Guide (SHI)

The School Health Guidelines to Promote Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
presents guidelines for assisting school districts in designing, implementing and promoting elements of local school wellness policies.
The resource includes a free PowerPoint presentation and facilitator’s guide. Each can be downloaded
for use when presenting at meetings, conferences, trainings of trainers, continuing education activities, or other public events, as well as used with individuals or teams.

Training Camp is a series of short videos that feature the Six Steps to Fuel Up to Play 60 (one video for each of the Six Steps), explains funds for Fuel Up to Play 60 and shows how Fuel Up to Play 60 complements other school wellness initiatives. Free Books For Read Across America Day
The Literacy Empowerment Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, invites schools or other literacy projects to apply for FREE books for Read Across America Day. During the past year, LEF has distributed over 3,000,000 books to schools all across the country for Read Across America Day and other literacy projects.
Resources are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The order form is available at lefbooks.org
and must be received by Feb. 16, 2013.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has launched a new tobacco use prevention and cessation website, providing one-stop access to tobacco-related information from across its agencies, including general information on tobacco, federal and state laws and policies, health statistics, and evidence-based methods on how to quit.
